Celebrate a loved one and say goodbye

Death is the completion of the circle of life. This is the time to celebrate a loved one and say goodbye, in a very special ceremony.
Whilst losing a friend or loved one is very sad, a funeral should be a celebration of the wonderful life of that person. A funeral service should be a tribute to the person and tell their life story. Family and friends are encouraged to share stories and special memories of the deceased.
Humanist / Non-religious Ceremony
A Humanist or non-religious funeral offers a dignified and uniquely affectionate way to celebrate and pay tribute to someone's life, especially if they have chosen to live their life without religion. Non-religious funerals have the same status in law as religious ones.
Concern for Others
Some people who have requested a non-religious service have felt worried about what religious family members or friends may say. You can be reassured that there will be nothing in the service that will offend, as the service is not about being judgmental about religious beliefs, but about focusing in a sincere way, on the life of the person who has died.
In general, people, including those with religious beliefs have expressed how personal, moving and sincere they found a Humanist service to be. It will also comfort you to know that you have provided a memorable service for others as well as yourself, and a fitting tribute to the person.
